POWERING NIGERIA’S TRANSMISSION GRID
60/66 MVA, 132/33KV POWER TRANSFORMER PROJECT
In 2022, Femadec Energy, a subsidiary of the Femadec Group, partnered with the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) to deliver a critical power infrastructure project aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s transmission network. The project involved the design, manufacturing, and supply of a 1×60/66 MVA, 132/33kV power transformer complete with all associated spares. This high-capacity transformer was supplied and installed at the Akangba Transmission Station, a key location in the national power grid.
The transformer is a three-phase, oil-immersed, ONAN/ONAF cooled unit, specifically engineered to step down high voltage (132kV) to medium voltage (33kV) for effective distribution to downstream substations and end users. Designed in compliance with international standards, the equipment ensures operational efficiency, reliability, and long-term service in Nigeria’s challenging power environment. This project demonstrates Femadec Energy’s technical capacity and commitment to supporting TCN in improving the country’s transmission infrastructure.
As part of the contract, Femadec Energy also delivered a complete set of transformer accessories and spares, performed factory acceptance testing (FAT), and ensured all quality control benchmarks were met before delivery.
