Project CNG-SPROUT
Project CNG-SPROUT (Compressed Natural Gas Special Palliative Relief on University Transportation) is a strategic initiative designed to enhance mobility and reduce transportation costs across Nigerian universities by promoting the use of eco friendly, CNG powered vehicles.
As part of the initiative, 20 CNG Ecosystems are being established in 20 universities nationwide. Each ecosystem comprises the deployment of brand new CNG powered buses and tricycles, alongside subsidized vehicle conversion services specifically for lecturers helping to ease the financial burden of transportation for academic staff.
The project was officially launched with its first sensitization and awareness campaign held at Yakubu Gowon University, Abuja, on Monday, May 19, 2025 by PCNGi. This event served as a milestone, offering stakeholders critical insights into the environmental, economic, and operational advantages of transitioning to CNG powered transportation within university campuses.
Project CNG-SPROUT is now gaining momentum, with six university locations set to be commissioned in the coming weeks. We are proud to be part of this groundbreaking development and a strategic step by the Federal Government towards a cleaner, more sustainable energy future.
